The 1935 kidnapping of nine-year-old George Weyerhaeuser, heir to America’s mightiest timber dynasty, was “a crime even the FBI must have considered fantastic and absurd.” In his latest book, Bryan Johnston investigates the biggest manhunt in Northwest history and its astonishing conclusion.

Before this latest chapter in his life, Bryan worked in local network television for 25 years. During that stretch, he earned eleven Emmy awards and had the great good fortune to be an on-air movie reviewer for a decade. Still one of the sweetest gigs on earth, in his humble opinion.
Bryan has authored several books and has written for numerous magazines and websites. He lives in Lake Forest Park, Washington with his wife, two kids, and one large Goldendoodle.
Sports-wise he used to have some surprising pop from the right side of the plate, and above-average hops. He plays mediocre golf, and his greatest wish is for the Seattle Mariners to get to the World Series in his lifetime. He’s not holding his breath.
Words, Writers, Southwest Stories is a free monthly speaker series that highlights local authors, historians, and voices to foster a deeper understanding of our community and its people.
